Matt Heffernan is one of the founding committee members for Permaculture Sydney South and a regular presenter for the group. To see the many talks by Matt please check out our “Past Presentations”.

Since completing his Permaculture Design Certificate in 2005 Matt has taught many “Permaculture Design Courses” including teaching for Permaculture Sydney South in 2011 and 2013. He has regularly taught “Introduction to Permaculture” at St George Sutherland Community College.  Over the years he has also been asked to run council talks for Hurstville and Sutherland Councils .

Matt was on the committee that established the Community Garden at Carrs Park and helped in the design and construction of the beds.  He has been a guest on “Better Homes and Gardens” and has opened his house up for Sustainable House Day in 2009 and 2010.

As a parent of children attending Oatley Public School, Matt was instrumental in establishing and running the schools “Green Sparks” kids gardening program for 8 years.  During this time he established a large orchard and vegetable garden at the school, offering a wide variety of fruit and vegetables which was shared among the students and the school canteen.
