14 September 2021: Library of Things

14 September 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Sonia Giles, Vice President

The Wheel – A Sustainability Hub

Sonia Giles is a passionate community volunteer who is truly green at heart.

A local to the Sutherland Shire, she is a mum of 2, a Project Director at The Department of Education, a volunteer Age Manager for Nippers at Cronulla SLSC, and the founding Vice President of The Wheel – A Sustainability Hub. Whilst Sonia is a busy parent who works full time, her love for community and her vision for a more sustainable Sutherland Shire continues to motivate her in the volunteer work she is presently undertaking at The Wheel.

The Wheel is a Sustainability hub that aims to encourage and support Sutherland Shire residents in living a more sustainable lifestyle. The Wheel’s first major project is bringing a Library of Things to our local community.

What is a Library of Things? – It seems almost a universal experience, walking into your garage to stumble upon a plethora of rarely used tools, sports equipment, and other appliances. These items have spent the majority of their life comfortably sitting on a shelf, collecting dust, having been used once or twice. Why buy these things when you can borrow them?

A library of things is just like a regular library but instead of books you can borrow tools, equipment and other useful things. The library of things movement has been growing rapidly around the world, with many community libraries already popping up all over Sydney.

This will be a zoom presentation commencing 7 pm Tuesday 14 September 2021.  It is open to the public without charge.  All are welcome to log in.
